Uber Gets MADD

30 Jan , 2015

Here at Casey & Sayre, obviously, we love technology.

We also recognize that with new technologies come new ways they can be well-used or misused.

This is why we’re such a strong proponent of AT&T;’s “It Can Wait” campaign, which spreads awareness of the dangers of texting and driving.  In a similar vein, I am also a huge supporter of a campaign by one of my favorite apps, Uber, and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).  The campaign promotes safety behind the wheel during this weekend’s Super Bowl Sunday.
A recent study by MADD found in California markets where Uber operates, drunk-driving crashes fell 6.5% among drivers under 30.  That represents an estimated 1,800 prevented crashes in California since July 2012.  That’s a lot of saved lives.

Given these results, Uber and MADD started a safety campaign this weekend for Super Bowl Sunday to further prevent driving under the influence. For every Uber ride taken Sunday between noon and 9PM, Uber will donate $1 to MADD (users should enter promocode THINKANDRIDE). It’s a smart campaign brand-wise, and one I happily promote.

So have a good weekend, friends, and don’t forget that THINKANDRIDE safe-driving campaign. Your safety is worth it.
