Olympic App Medal Ceremony!

9 Aug , 2012

Let the Best Olympic 2012 App Ceremony Begin!
GOLD MEDAL GOES TO :
LONDON 2012: OFFICIAL APPS (all free on Android and iPhone)

This is actually a 2 part gold medal because there are two separate apps you can use to your liking.
JOININ App (Free on Android and iPhone) includes all the happenings and goings-on of the Olympics.  You can search and filter your favorite events, best times to view, or – if you are lucky enough to be in London – events happening closest to you!  Customize your own personal schedule with the events you just can’t miss and set alerts to remind you to tune in.
RESULTS APP (Free on Android and iPhone) is a simpler format with live updates, metal count updates and athlete profiles. If you are attending the event, the JOININ app is a better bet, but the RESULTS app is a perfect solution for those rooting from home.
SILVER MEDAL GOES TO:
NBC Olympics Live Extra (Free on Android and iPhone)
You can stream footage for free on the NBC app so you never have to miss an event!  Also, check out photos, videos and profiles from Team USA.   Live feeds, replays and multiple camera angles leave this app in high standing but it lost out on the gold medal due to connectivity issues.  Users report some crashes with the latest version.  Lets hope the next heat brings updates for this contender that could help it rise to the gold.
BRONZE MEDAL GOES TO:
ESPN OLYMPICS GUIDE
What are the rules of Olympic Ping Pong?  What the heck is this Pentathalon event?  In the Olympics, there are sports I never even knew existed, let alone were competitive at a world wide level.  While our Bronze Medal winner is not technically an app, this website (link) will make you the Olympics Guru in your circle of friends by detailing the rules, visual explanations and some trivial on every Olympic event.
