Flipping out for Flipboard!

8 Mar , 2013

The integration of news and social media is an interesting one.  Techies are preferring to get more and more “news” from sources like Twitter and Facebook, rather than more traditional mediums like newspapers.  But filtering through tweets for actual news stories can be a bit of a pain.  Well, I’ve got a solution for you.

Flipboard.
Flipboard congregates all your preferred news articles with your Facebook, Twitter, Google + and other social media feeds.  The end result is a beautifully designed, easy to use, one-stop-shop for iPhones, iPads or Android devices.
The piece of this I cannot stress enough is how much I love this user interface.  It is a contender for my list of top designed apps EVER.  Yes, I love it that much.  Flipboard mixes the technology benefits of features such as multi-screen visibility, customizable pages and aesthetically pleasing screenshots with the more traditional benefits like intuitive “page flipping” usability and design.
My old morning routine to catch up on the day’s news included:
– open Twitter app, look at tweets
– open Facebook app, look at newsfeed
– visit 2-3 news sites
– open Google +, look at friends comments
– visit Twitter again to see what happened in the past half hour that it took me to accomplish all those other steps!

But now, I get all those folded into one app!  Flipboard!

Have you tried Flipboard?  Do you like it?  What is your go to source for news?
