CES is one of the COOLEST times every year to find new innovative tech, apps and inventions!

And TODAY is the best day for it! Today is CES’s yearly “Mobile App Showdown”, where new apps are shown and demos are open to the public. People are able to test out apps and vote for the one they love most and think is most likely to make it big. Votes can be submitted online or – if you are lucky enough to be at CES – at the live event along with a panel of industry-big-wig judges.

There are tons of great apps this year and I can’t wait to find out who is voted the champion. Here are a couple of my faves:

SunPort app works with a specially designed power outlet plug that helps support the creators of solar power energy the more you use it.

My Open Road promotes eco-friendly transportation by letting users earn points for traveling in “green” ways such as biking, walking or public transit. Points can then be used to get discounts at eco-friendly businesses.

We heart local supports local businesses by showing users locations of the best local business around them. The app also gives great info on where to get local food, what season to buy it in and to help share your favorite local recipes.
